just google "guitar instructional video" Take your pick. Just make sure you practice at least 15 min. a day , but everyday

1) Get lessons--at least a dozen or so. Beginners make mistakes, and it's usually essential to have someone watching who can correct them immediately. Otherwise you're liable to form bad habits, and in the long run those will scotch up your playing--or, worst-case, cause repetitive motion injuries. Carpal tunnel has struck many self-taught guitarists I've known.

To find good, inexpensive lessons, try putting a note on a bulletin board in the music department of a nearby college--guitar majors will often work cheaper. If that fails, try the best music store in town, or get a referral from that music store or from the college music department.

2) After a dozen or so lessons, you can self-educate if you don't mind learning slower. ALL books, cds, and dvds will be useful, so I'd recommend buying anything that looks good from ebay or a used bookseller--that's cheaper. If you get something that's too advanced for you, just save it 'til you catch up.

3) Tip: as a beginner, do many short practices rather than one long one daily. Four practices of 10 minutes or less will get you further faster than one 1-hour session. Week by week, extend the time of the short practices by a minute or two, and eventually drop the number of them, so that eventually you've built the stamina and knowledge to play comfortably for an hour at a time.
