I think it's really cool that you aspire to be a singer. However, I'd say that you would be better off with concentrating on your studies and getting singing experience under belt first. This is because you will want to have a strong "plan B" in case your singing career doesn't work out. The Berklee College of Music website offers many good ideas on careers in the music world, so that may be worth checking into.

What you can do in the meantime is participate in as many singing opportunites as possible. I'd also recommend taking voice lessons and talk with your instructor about wanting to learn all sorts of musical genres. He/she can also tell you about upcoming auditions. You can also participate in local talent shows, sing in a choir, go to solo/ensemble contest, audition for all-district/all-county/all-state choirs, try out for summer vocal music camps, go to voice conferences, become a member of a voice email listserve (great way to learn who's who in the voice world btw)...just to name a few.

If you want some experience actually working in the music industry, try starting out as a volunteer for a local radio show. You may even be allowed to sing on their station for free, which may also be a way to build up an audience. You can also put on a concert and send copies of your cds to record labels in your area and to major cities that offer major recording studios (NYC, LA, Nashville-TN, Chicago just to name a few). However, due to the sheer amount of recordings these studios recieve, you will have to be prepared for LOTS of rejection. This is why it's also a good idea to submit recordings to more local labels. Again, a private teacher could help you with this if this something you SERIOUSLY want to pursue, and are willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears for it.

Good luck.

Try any websites that allow photo sharing such as: Youtube, or etc. Then post a video of yourself singing, you never know, someone could find out about u and you could make it big! Good luck! Hope this helped!

First off, I don't want dampen your spirits, but you should focus solely on wanting to be a star. not everyone gets a big break so you need to focus on your school work as well. Just pursue singing as a side hobby okay? Trust me, its important to have an education for a back up plan.

Anyways, join a local choir group at your church, school or a community . You can also get some voice lessons on your own so you can get some practice and advice from an expert. I hope this helps.

EX POSER, EX POSER, EX POSER...........Start a band, sing anywhere you can. Theaters, fairs, etc, My brother-in-law (The late Gene Pitney) found his success this way and became very famous..

ALWAYS WARM UP BEFORE SINGING:

Take a little bit of honey before you sing
Warmup
Practice projecting your voice and shaping your mouth.
When singing try to make the constanants stand out.
Find a vocal coach. Incorrectly performed techniques can ruin your singing voice. Investing in an experienced vocal coach is well worth the money.
Learn your vocal range. This is essential, as singing pieces written for the wrong range may strain your voice.
Correct your posture. Stand tall with one foot slightly in front of the other one, feet shoulder width apart. This allows you to breathe easily and to allow maximum lung capacity to allow better notes and phrases.
Breathe properly. The voice is best described as a wind instrument and breathing is 80% of singing. Proper singing begins and ends with proper breathing. This is the breathing that we all did as babies, the breathing that we all do subconsciously all day. The best kind of nutrition for the voice is water. Water will do many wonderful things for the voice and is also very essential to your body. If you are sick, pineapple juice may clear the throat of phlegm but don't make a habit of anything besides water.
