YOB-411 is made by Yamaha. It means that they have released a new model with new features and a new model number.
With a brand like Yamaha you don't have to worry about replacement patts. They have an extensive parts department. I am a Yamaha Authorised instrument repairer and am looking a the current parts listing. Parts are available for oboes that were discontinued in 1988.
According to the Yamaha (official) information YOB-411(2) ceased production in 2004. (the original YOB-411 ceased in 1990 replaced with YOB-411(2). So you should be able to negotiate a better price as the dealer is trying to get rid of an old stock item. Make sure you get the full warrantee if it is a new instrument.

It could mean that you will have trouble getting parts for it in the future should it break.
If it is a big name brand then you should be okay even if it is discontinued.

PS "discontinued" means that the company is not making this model anymore.
Sometimes it can mean the the retailer is no longer stocking that particular item even though it is still made.

i would buy it, I don't play oboe. but I think it would be cool to have a oboe or any instrument that a model is not made any more. Depends how much it is. if its uber exspensive then no. if its a price where you could buy another one later, then yea I don't see y not.

if anything you could sell the discontinued version.
