Question:Whenever I hit a note on my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd string that im going to hold, how do i make it squeal? i dont mean like pinch harmonics. That is why im wanting to knowi mean like for a few seconds it will sound normal, but then it starts to slowly squeal. a good example would be in the beginning of Hearts Burst into Fire, by Bullet For My Valentine. Also, if anyone here has covered this song or knows how, how could i get that tone in the begining when the distorted guitar comes in?

when you hit the note that you want to sustain, which is the right word, hit the fret before that note and bend the string and shake your finger at the same time.
That will trigger the squeal as you call it.

Make sure your amp is loud enough, then get close to the amp and turn your pick-ups toward the speaker(s).

You'll get a little sustained feedback, which you can control by the volume on your guitar or moving closer and farther away...

The distortion is created by an overdrive stomp box of somesort..there are millions out there...

maybe let of on the fret a little bit? i dont know im not familiar with that.
