I think you mean balalaika.

The prima balalaika is tuned E E A ; the two E's being tuned to the same pitch.

Sometimes they are tuned G B D but this is frowned upon by the purists.

Oh, Duchess!! Just begin with the lowest string which is C, middle is G, highest is an octave C. Then just let it flow from there! LOL
