How about when Madonna covered American Pie by Don McLean?

I avoided listening to her version as much as possible because I love the original.

Brick in the Wall first by Pink Floydd second done by Korn, I hate to say this but Korns is beter to me personally. Though on mad days I still toss in Floydds version to help me mellow out when its been stressful

Sorry guys but I WAS honest

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

Mick Jagger & the Rolling Stones rocks.

Britney Spears sucks.

And yes, in this case, there is a noticeable difference in emotion between the two recordings.

Dolly Parton - 'The Greatest Love of All'

Whitney Houston - 'The Greatest Love of All'.

While I don't like the song, Dolly's version (she wrote it) is a sincere and authentic Nashville-style glitzy country ballad. Whitney's is a nightmarishly overblown exercise in lung power, and nothing else.

The other option I have doesn't quite count as it's kind of the same song, but:

Louis Armstrong, 'What A Wonderful World'

Kenny G with Louis Armstrong, 'What A Wonderful World'

In this case, Kenny G overdubbed his out-of-tune sax noodling on Louis Armstrong's touching if schmaltzy 1967 hit single, and released it as a single just because he could. The result is a hideous monstrosity - a perfectly OK song ruined by his vile snorking.
