If you want to play it that badly, then you will not give up even if you find it hard. If you find it a little bit hard and give up, then you didn't want to play it badly enough.

It's quite easy to sound OK on electric guitar - like any other instrument, it's much harder to sound brilliant on it. The learning curve starts out shallow, stays like that for a long time, and then goes very steep. Try it anyway, and have fun.

PS - Don't listen to anyone who says you should learn acoustic guitar first. They are completely different instruments. The notes are in the same place, but from a technical and philosophical and holistic point of view they are completely different and demand not just different styles of playing but entirely different mental and physical approaches. If you want to learn electric guitar, then you are just wasting money getting an acoustic first, because it will teach you very little about how to approach playing electric.

Re finger pain - if you think the guitar is painful (it gets easier, don't worry) you should try the double bass. I used to play that with blood trickling down the strings. Report It

  • You should really learn your chords on an acoustic guitar first.

Wow.... if you find electric guitar hard to play, then learn the side flute or an easier instrument.

uuum electric guitar is the same as acoustic except it is plugged in and you can create better and more different sounds with it then with acoustic

ya it is hard. especially if you want to play lead, it takes a lot of time and practice. you'll need to practice a lot scales to get good. and for rythmn the chords are easy but the power chords are kinda har @ first and you'll need to do exercises to make your fingers strong so they can hold down all the strings.

no i think its actually pretty easy. most of electric guitar work is power chords. but if your talking about like face melting solos... well that takes a bit more knowledge about music theory and whatnot. i suggest starting out on acoustic guitar so you can get an apreciation for the basics of guitar work and musical composition. however if you want to jump right in, then you the hardest part is gonna be getting your fingers to "co-operate." after that its a breeze.

    every instrument is hard
    get a life

You sound like you want it so desperately,.so it will be hard, but you will want it so bad the pain wont matter,. There is pain at first,. fingers on strings, but as you build your hand muscles, and calis your fingertips <goodbye painted long nails> you'll smile with acomplishment, as you strum away and sing your heart out,,..halaljluha,... If you start with accoustic, use a steal string,,.. electric, try and lower the guage string one guage,.easier on your fingers,. the better the guitar, the better the action < thats the distance from the string to the fret, not the other kinda action that comes later,.>

If you really want to, then you won't quit after a little frustration, but it takes time before you sound good.
