Anything thats worthwhile won't be easy, learning the guitar isn't easy. But if its something you really want to do you'll have to put in the time, the achy fingers will wear off. Knowing how to play will last FOREVER

it easy to learn a few chords but your fingers will ache and by then youll give up....i did.

If you have the talent, you can play decently after 6 month. If you have no talent, forget about it.

its called learning sweety

pretty hard for me. That s... hurts my fingers.

its difficult. it takes time and patience, cuz u gotta get ur fingers adjusted to stretching and everything. its hard at first, but then its worth it, though its frusturating in the beginnning

well if u have a good teacher then no it aint hard

if it is something you find out you love, it will make it much easier. Try on a friends guitar, or at a guitar store before you commit to anything.

Wow, you sound really interested in trying. It is not that difficult if you are willing to practice everyday. I started about a year ago, and I never thought I would be able to play anything. Now I can play a number of songs.

Guitar is one of the hardest instruments to play, you have to really put in the hard yards!

yeah, seriously. why would anyone want to do anything hard? i mean, regardless of how rewarding it might be, if it takes too much effort, just stay in bed. i think there might even be a tv show on that you can watch and never again be troubled by a thought in your head or a hope in your heart.

I take guitar lessons and is hard and I hate it but electric is way better.Beginning to play guitar is easy but once you get far along you have to do three finger and four finger chords.

If a guitar player can play guitar anybody can play guitar.

i dont think its really hard because my brother used to play, but I think it takes a while if you want to be really good at it. you should still try it though!

It's not hard at all. I am a self taught player, but I also have a background in other music. It is like any instrument that you learn to play.. practice, practice, practice...

My fingers did hurt after a bit and feel stiff, I also got blisters on the tips of my fingers, which callouse over and you can't notice it anymore.. but all so VERY worth it.

Not to mention that it sounds so beautiful!

Your desire to learn to play doesnt seem that great. I would expect you will have a difficult time and give it up fairly quickly. We cant judge you or your abilities. the only way you can truly find out is to give it a shot.

Good luck.

Sorry but this sounds lazy to me.....I remember years ago when I first wanted to play classical and acoustic guitar, wanting to know how hard it was to play never even entered my mind.....it was in my heart and soul, I wanted to play I didn't care how hard it was or how long it took to learn it ........I just took on a student about a month ago, I've said this a couple of times lately, he's sixteen and playing guitar was something that he really wanted to do.....he didn't ask how hard or how long....it was how do we start....are you sure that this is something that you really want to do....it doesn't sound like it to me....if it was, you would want it no matter what it took. Already he's playing scales, about five of them, about ten chords, and can change without problems, can read and play all the music ( and not tabs, music notation) in the first position. Another amazing thing is that he's left handed, but he's playing as if right handed, do you realize what dedication this takes ??? This goes to show you if you want this more then anything it will happen, he puts in a lot of time and effort into his studying, when I see him for our lesson I can tell that he's put in a lot of time into it, or course you have to have some talent, but you also have to put in the work that's required, just like reading, you didn't learn that overnight did you....it took time and years of practice !!!!!!!!! If you just want to play a few chords then I'd say go for it, otherwise I'd say forget about it, it sounds like if you have to work or put in time and energy then forget about it,...so save your money !!!!!! I'm not being mean, I'm being honest, and you did ask !!!!!!!!!

If you're not dedicated to learn the instrument, don't waste you time,or money on lessons. Most people don't just randomly pick up an instrument, and start playing them. You have to have good coordination. Good luck though..

it's easy enough if you're willing to dedicate time to practice. but if you don't practice at all, it's really hard. (for me it was at least!)

Your first major hurdle is to trim the nails from your left hand and endure the pain of sore fingertips for a while. Based on your comment, you don't have the self-determination and willpower to go past the hurting fingertips so they can develop calluses.

I expect you will quit before you learn to form the G chord.

On the other hand, starting at age 16 is to your advantage because you can devote much time and practice to the craft of learning to play guitar--just as I did at age 16. Once you develop those necessary calluses the rest of the learning experience can be joyful and exhilarating. The guitar is always challenging to those willing to go beyond the three-chord song.

But if you're a quitter from the beginning, and as someone else has said, go to your room, turn on the boob tube, and turn yourself off from the reality in the world. You get nothing out of life unless you expend effort.
