Position:Home>Performing Arts> Anyone know any songs, to play on a keyboard?

Question:I'm a learner and my dad, recently fixed his old 1988 Yamaha keyboard and gave it to me. I'm a big fan of the eighties and Duran Duran, so I would love to learn how to play this keyboard and I could do with some songs. My nan taught me the basics, like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Chopsticks" and she also taught me "Blue Moon" and I've learnt "My Heart Will Go On" by myself. If anyone else knows any songs, please tell me the notes.

I know all the notes and sharps and flats, but I'm a beginner, so nothing really complicated, please. I'm going to get a music book for keyboard players, but can't get it right now.

Thanks. :)

good luck hope u do great! u'll learn em in no time just have a good ear for the notes

If you are a natural musician; like I am...you don't NEED books. You will need training for fingering and discipline; which is best through a teacher. Find a friend, or a friend of a friend to help you with timing and fingering. Learn where each finger goes for each note.

After you have that down, all you need are your ears....a radio with a CD player or your Ipod, and your keyboard. Have it near by and listen to a small part. Play it as many times as you need to get it in your head. Play along with it, then when you feel comfortable turn off the CD player/Ipod and try playing by yourself.

Then go on to the next session of the song, and repeat the above steps.

A good easy 80's song is New Orders: Blue Monday, Dead or Alives-You Spin Me( Right round) or Depeche Modes: Enjoy the Silence.

no one ever taught me how to play the piano. When i was 5 i found a plastice recorder and music sheets with it for 50 cents and my mom bought it for me. i used it to play the piano, but they were all songs to little kid theme songs like, bob the builder, dora, dragon tales, thomas the train and spongebob squarepants. ha ha ha but now i play them to my little sister who is 5.

Personally, if I were a beginner on the keyboard, I would download all of the music on Gilbert DiBenedietti's site:

The Piano Sheet Music

Some of it will be too easy, and some will take some growing into, but if you want a bunch of excellent piano literature, This site is the one you should go to. Hope this helps.

Well, maybe something along the lines of Elton John. (even though I am virtuous, his songs are still a little hard for me). But he is a classic pianist and I am a fan of him.

Old Skool Riddim - Mr Vegas, Divine Brown And Lukie D did songs to that tune
