If I were writing the verse to the first combination of chords, I would go for a complete contrast like:

G / / / Amin / / D7/ / G/ / / Amin/ / D7 / /

or

G / / Amin / / Bmin / / C / D / G / / Amin / / Bmin / / C / D /

Just a thought. Without hearing the words it would be hard to offer more. If I can be of any more help, don't be afraid to give me a shout.

I'd love to hear you do both on youtube....hearing you do this in your own style would help us to decide !!!!!!!!!! Why not consider it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd need to hear how you put this together and with what strum. The chords theoretically make sense either way but musically they could lead many places. Do you have a recording?

Well, this question indicates that either:
--someone has fed you a load of bull about what chord progressions are supposed to be,
--you don't have a melody yet,
--you don't trust yourself.

The chords need to support the melody. Typically, a composer will craft the melody, then figure out what key it's in (generally that's the note that the melody ends on), then will assign harmonies to each phrase, usually choosing harmonies that reflect most of the notes in that phrase (tho' there are some nice exceptions, such as the third phrase in the verse of the Moody Blues' "Other Side of Life").

Bottom line: there are no right or wrong chord progressions. All harmonies are acceptable. Your task is to find the ones that work with the melody to express your artistic intent.

If you really want to learn more about harmonies and melodies and so forth, go to the library and check out a book on music theory.

either way works. I prefer the bm / Am / Em

you might try:
B-flatmaj7 / Am/ Em

This isn't a decision any of us can make because you're the only one that knows what it sounds like. My advice would be to record it each way with the piano then guitar. Listen to it and decide what you like better.
