Definitely not. Take up the instrument which most appeals to you. However, certain instruments, such as the voice and brass instruments, are well suited to late starters, whilst with the piano and strings many youngsters would be years ahead of you. Still, the main thing is to take up the instrument which attracts you. Should it be the piano, just don't be discouraged if many younger people are able to play more difficult pieces than you can manage. If you stick at it, you should be able to play well eventually.

I don't think so.

I just took up African drumming this year, and I am 46.

No way! It's never too late. Keep on going for your dream. Mid-20's is fine. That is when most people start a band and such. It's never too late, so get learning! :D

Your never to old to do anything you want to do.. As long as you stay dedicated to yourself and what you strive for you should be great...

It's never too late to learn something new.You never lose the ability to play an instrument. It just takes a lot of practice to get where you were before. We all need a little creativity to keep life from being boring.Age is not a factor just determination.

no way! its never to late to start. all u need is passion and train your self to want to keep learning new things

Nope. Think about it. If you start now, in one year you will have gained so much experience because all you really need after you learn the basics is practice. Make a commitment to practice 30 min. everyday or 4 hours a week to start.

Absolutely not! It is a matter of persistance and desire to learn.

I don't think it's ever too late. I am learning guitar and I'm 49.

Its never too late to learn ANYTHING. Go for it!

It's never too late to do what ever you want to do. Just recently I saw a women in the news who graduated from college at the age of 90 !!!!!!!! And I have plenty of students who want to lean guitar in their thirty's and forty's.....believe me it's never to late to do what you want to do.....I'm thinking about taking up the violin.....I teach classical and acoustic guitar but always wanted to play the violin.....and this year I'm going to get one, and I'm a bit over forty, give it a try, what can you lose......and good luck to you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're never too old to learn to play a musical instrument. I know people in their 30's, 40's, 50's and older who are just learning to play now, or who started on an instrument as a kid, gave it up and are now getting back into it after not having played for 20 or 30 years or so.

Uh of course not, music freaking rocks!
your just going to have to dedicate alot of your time to it in order to get really good.

As a music educator let me tell you it's never too late. But one thing you need to remember, don't expect to play the music you'd like to play right off. You're going to have to learn some simple things first like Mary Had a Little Lamb for a while til you're ready to advance. Remember, you have to crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run.

never!!!! i learned how to play the clarinet, saxaphone and the flute. now im learning how 2 play guitar and the piano. music is awesome and i think every1 should learn how to play an instrument.

2-string upright bass is perfect for you

One of the best and most creative guitarists in jazz history, Sonny Sharrock, didn't start playing guitar until he was 19, although he'd sung in doowop groups as a teenager.

One of the most remarkable avant-garde guitarists at work today, Henry Kaiser, didn't pick up any kind of instrument until he was 21.

You are definitely not too old to learn to play something, although you will have a bit of catching up to do if you want to be seriously good at it.

It's never too late. I taught myself to play piano when I was fourteen, but did not start actually taking lessons until I was about twenty three. I also did not learn how to play the organ until I was twentyeight, I am pretty good at the organ, and I know the basics, but remember you also have to spend time practicing on a regular basis. Also, I took my first Harmony class where I did learn to write some music when I was Twentyseven and I actually did pretty well with it.
