G&L are very solid guitars. You're in essence looking at the last true Leo Fender guitar since he owned G&L. After Leo sold Fender Musical Instruments to CBS, the employees subsequently bought the company back from CBS. Hence the term pre-CBS Strats, pre-CBSTeles, etc. Stuff made under CBS ownership was considered cr*p. Leo later came out of retirement and formed G&L. I'm surprised your Tele had such a breakdown. Is it a Standard (made in Mexico) or an American Standard? Get you a Les Paul Voodoo yummmm! The "socket"? What's that? You mean the neck pocket? I've done repairs for 20 years and have never seen a Fender neck break away from the neck pocket on the body. I've seen plenty of headstocks crack but never the body pocket - did you run over it with a truck? Or do you mean the input jack? Since it's recessed, that's an unusual repair also. Is it "broken" or just a loose connection? G&L's are nice - but usuaully so are standard Teles. Buy the guitar with the sound you have in mind. I have a 63 Les Paul gibson for the fat sound and a jackson, with a lot of bite for arpeggios and because it has 24 frets. You like rock or fusion or Symphony-X stuff, but the G&L |
