yo Marvin, I've read your q&a's and I know you are intelligent with fair opinions. If you believe in what you say without question or doubt you should never fear on what other people say, just believe in yourself there is no other secret but having a positive mindset on your speech will lead you to success in delivering it well. Just be firm and straight with your speech. Look at something and imagine you are giving an opinion here in y!a if that helps. coz Ive seen you answer and you rock! Good luck dude! =)

It takes practice, but not giving a rat's a-s-s what your audience thinks (while at the same time maintaining a respect for the process).

if you can try to be at the same forum before people are allowed in. If not, just try imagining the naked as you speak.

You just have to get up there and do it. Face your fear and give the best speech you can. Just remember that everyone that is watching you wants you to do well and the only person that will notice if you make a mistake is you. Good luck and I'm sure you'll do great.

oh just think like this.....tommorow everyone would just listen to you , on whatever topic you are talking about, you are the expert on it and all they can do is just listen to you and nothing else but listen.

um well it works for me... -_-
good luck!
( the whole naked thing does not work for me, made me laugh)

practice your speech a lot

don't have caffiene beforehand

the more you speak in public the more you get used to it

don't admit to the audience that you are nervous or call attention to anything wrong that you may be doing. if you do it will end up making you even more nervous. i'm in speech class right now and we did speeches Saturday. This one girl mentioned how hot it was near the end of her speech and she got even more nervous and more hot after she did that.

I don't know how helpful I can be since I seem to be facing the same problem sometimes...but I'll try =)
Do you have a mirror..?If so start talking to it...it's nothing compared to all the people who will be staring at you...but it shall make you 99% sure that chances are you won't do any tragic mistakes whilst speaking...!!!
You also have to make yourself realize that is not such a big deal when all is said and done=)...when I had to speak in public...I used to say to myself that it'll be for about 10min and then you're done...!!!
If you have a fear for that...it'll probably won't ever go away completely but as much as you practice...the better you'll feel about your speech and the less nervous you'll be when you have to do it....!

I am sure you'll do great...=D...Good Luck!!!

Take Care~

Hello. I used to teach public speaking. The only way to avoid the kind of fear you are apparently dealing with is to get used to it, I'm afraid. It might help you to remember:

1. The topic you are presenting is worthwhile. You already know this or you wouldn't be putting in the effort in the first place.

2. The audience wants to hear you. They want to hear what you are about to say. They are generally sympathetic to you.

3. If you are nervous as you start, try not to worry about it. Concentrate on your topic and the worthwhile message you are presenting.

4. A few stumbles are to be expected. Don't worry about being perfect. People want to hear YOU, not some 'plastic model'. Just be yourself.

It's just like talking to anyone, only more so. It may help you to pick one or two people in the audience, focus on them, and talk to them!

I'm sure you'll do fine!

think of yourself as a performer putting on an act. :) good luck!

There are several techniques, one wide-spread technique is to imagine everyone in the audience as nude or without clothes. Another way is to practice speaking at home with family and/or friends. Another way is to imagine yourself just talking as you would to a group of your buddies.

A great actress, Katherine Hepburn once said when she was in her 80's, that she still got nervous when she had to go out on stage. She used that as a sign she was ready.

Now take a deep breath, let it out a little bit slowly and go for it. Besides, these are earthlings you are speaking in front of, what do you have to worry about? Nada.

Just imagine Bugs Bunny is out there making fun of you, Marvin. You will be fine.

as corny as you might think that this sounds .... give it a try......
look at yourself in the mirror, in a very serious voice..... tell yourself..... I am confident...... I can do this.......
believe in yourself........
think of time when you did or something that took courage.....
tell yourself.....
say outloud........
i will speak to you tomorrow..... like this ..... i will be a success......
its quite simple

pretend like everyone is naked

no, i'm kidding...just rehearse your speech well. say whatever you are going to say in front of someone, a friend or who ever you live with. do all the things you can to make yourself look good. wear nice cologne, floss, iron your clothes, so you may feel a little extra confident. take a deep breath before you speak and don't rush it. pretend that you are just talking to some friends and be relaxed when you talk.

Well a lot of musicians get some betablockers from their doctors so their nerves don't mess up their auditions. Many doctors of course might have never heard of this but uh, what I would also suggest is eating a banana (natural beta blockers woohoo) and have a glass of wine or a beer (if you can have a drink without getting wasted, I mean if you weigh 100 pounds have half a beer, you know what I'm saying? You don't have to tell anyone you just had a beer at ten in the morning, and it will help! Lol Just don't do it every day ;-D

how about all sitting on the potty.

It helps me a lot to make a lot of eye contact by constantly moving my eyes. Lots of people are afraid to make eye contact but by constantly moving your eyes, you never really focus in on any one person. My speech teacher in college told me I had better eye contact than anyone she'd ever taught.

look at the back wall or corner.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. once you practice alot you will get over the fear. practice in front of hu ever you can
always right before eat a banana...this helps block pnervouz particles from going through ur body. ido this for my recitals and it helps. i also think that a ton of people will be doin this to and it is okay if i make a mistake...i kno how u feel

hope i helped!!!

I've heard imagining that everyone in the audience is naked works great!

Good Luck!

The best I can say is just remember that you don't know a large part of the audience and will probably never see them again. Also, if it's a big crowd, there's bound to be someone out there who likes you.

Best wishes!!

you could always imagine that your audience is a load of naked bugs Bunny's it works for me
