You can just hang out at music stores.
Talk to the sales people.
Usually they are musicians, and know the local music network better than anyone else.
Ask about web sites for local musicians and sings.
Most cities have one, or more.

Also call some local music teachers (guitar, bass, piano) and ask for some names of local interest parties.

You not alone.
Lots of people looking for a music community.

Good Luck, and Rock on Dude.

Do you have any terrible beatnik bars full of people who look like they stumbled out of Seattle circa 1993, or far overpriced coffee shops? Thats a good start. I suggest simply standing at the door and screaming, 'Any hella sick dudes want to jam?'

That normally gets the best response. Or just go to craigslist and/or flier the campus cork boards. But i guess thats too easy.

Join myspace.com (if you're not previously a member) and in the networking section you can select arts, music, instrumentalist, and then you can network with people all around the world who are also on myspace but also with people in your area.
Other than that, you could try going to clubs and such in your area if there are any :)

Scroll down..fill out info, zip code, type of music etc.

Is there somewhere at your school to post notices? Especially near the music classes?
