Question:I've been guitar since may ...about um..8..yea 8 months now, I can chord out many of my favorite red hot chili peppers hit...(most of my practice is based off their songs actually) some coldplay and other assorted songs. I've learnt the californication solo and killers "read my mind" and in the process of picking up some others.

Am I well on my way?, any advice so that I don't skip out something vital as I continue.
P.S. all I have is an acoustic so any advice plz relate it accordingly

There's a book called Zen Guitar that may assist you on your quest. It's deep, man, but easy to read and full of helpful stuff. Good luck.

I've also been playing since May, of 1964. Imitation is a form of flattery, but wouldn't you rather be remembered because you have your own style. There is so much out there that you can learn. Take one song, and improve it. Try different materials in picks for sound quality. Take a look at how much music has been influenced, or changed since the 60s. Only you can answer your own question. You are the musician.
