Position:Home>Performing Arts> What are some good guitar scales?

Question:I'm just learning guitar, although I'm not a TOTAL beginner. But I was just wondering if there are links to any scales I should work on to improve speed, strength, etc. Please no pedantic replies, I don't know much about music reading.

Learn the Pentatonic scales. They are good for practice, and are used everywhere. Also, if you learn the major pentatonic then you also know the minor pentatonic because it's the same group of notes, just ending on a different one of the group. I think if you do a search for it you can find a site that shows you how without having to read music.

Good luck!

I'm just starting the guitar as well (I just got one for my birthday 3 hours ago.) From what I've learned so far, just work on your chords and work your way up.

Try yo find someone who plays guitar all the time.
Someone who plays in a band. Get around musicians.
