Position:Home>Performing Arts> What's a good musical theater college?

Question:I don't know how it stacks up nationally, but if you are by chance looking for musical theatre studies at a small college, you might check out Millikin University in Decatur, IL. Unlike many higher-ed institutions (even the big ones), Millikin offers a Musical Theatre major; most places, you have to double-major in music and theatre, which isn't really the same training. Millikin's MT program is aimed at producing triple threats with a strong knowledge of musical theatre skills & repertoire, in addition to a good basis in "straight shows" and classical music. Alumni are working in regional professional theatre, on Broadway, in national tours, on film & TV, and in the recording industry. (Interesting bit of trivia: both Ariels from "The Little Mermaid" - the film & the Broadway musical - are Millikin grads.)
