How good is this amp for the price?

Question:I am thinking about buying a peavy amp 130 watt. (used) for about $175. How much do these amps normally cost new? what kind of special effects does it have. I dont know a lot about amps. or how much a decent one would cost. the guy said he was despreate to sell cuz he wants to buy a new guitar soon, so i need to know if i should buy it.

Assuming that it works it sounds like a decent deal.

It probably won't have any effects on it. It will probably be very loud.

Without knowing the model of the amp there's not much more one can say.

I would want to play through it before I bought it.

It's hard to say without knowing the model. Peavey makes quality amps - very durable. I've had a 65 watt Bandit for 20 years. Probably, it will only have reverb and an overdrive control. If it's a 2-12 cab it will be very very loud. New, they go for around $400 - 500.
