You'd have to google it for sure, but there are online guitar tuners I do believe.... you would just need a microphone to hook up into your computer.

I recommend Korg. Another answerer said GA-30 and that's cool, I prefer the CA-30 because it will tune to any note, and since I tune Drop D down 1/2 step it works better for me. 20 or 25 US$ I believe.

I strongly disagree with the "Intelli" tuners not being affected by outside noise. I play in a progressive rock band, and when the charming young fresh-faced lead guitarist plugs in to his stack and turns up, I get false notes all over the place, especially if I'm trying to tune the low or hi E strings. It might work well if there is "little" outside noise, but with a drumset and another stack nearby, a clip-on tuner is of only moderate use.

I haven't really ever needed a pick guard, per se, but it's a good idea to get one. Go to a local music store that isn't Guitar Center and ask them about it. Have them do a "setup" on your guitar as well, that way your guitar will be intonated (in tune all the way up the neck), they'll check for problems, make sure action is good, etc.

Saul

most electic tuners will get the job done, and cost about 20 bucks or so. never had one without a pick guard, and i like medium sized picks myself. tend to stay with fender also.

I use a korg tuner its a KORG guitar/bass tuner GA-30 and it works great only 15 to 20 bucks. Guitars are pretty simple when i first began i used a crappy excel guitar SUCKED!!
now i got a EPIPHONE LES PAUL SPECIAL 2 and it works great not to expensive.if u like a fender kind of guitar go with fender or squier. but read reviews online about them. or if u like les paul type of stuff or flying v's or maybe an explorer then go with epiphone or Gibson. these are real good guitars.

The Intelli company make a range of tuners that clip on to the guitar and work through vibrations. They are the best, cos they're not affected by outside noise at all.
Re pickguard. Does your guitar have nylon strings? They geherally don't have pick guards. There's a range of picks called DAVA which are nylon and don't scratch the guitar bodies easily. I've taken to using them and I think they're great. Hope this helps.

I have an ENO ET3000 chromatic guitar tuner. Perfect and east to use.
In the US about $20 in the UK about $20.

No pick guard - sound like a classical guitar where a pick is not (normally) used. You can get pick guards applied and music shops.
