Question:Can I Use acoustic guitar strings to my electric guitar?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Can I Use acoustic guitar strings to my electric guitar?

No.

The gauges and tensions will most likely be wrong, and you run the risk of warping the neck of your electric, which will ruin it. The pickups need steel cores in order to work, and most acoustics use steel-cored strings, but they are not designed for electrics. Strings aren't expensive, go out and get a set specifically for electrics.

I third the bad sound thing. Acoustic strings will sound awful.

In a word no. Acoustic strings are generally bronze wound, and will not give such a good response.

The gauges would, in general, be wrong. That would create tension problems, throwing your intonation/tuning out of whack.

I second the "bad sound" answer before me as well.
