Most of the guitars in the 300-400 US$ price range are very decent quality. If you want a "good" guitar, you'll want to go with a solid body, and that will start somewhere around 600-800US$ and go up from there.

I can't see spending less than 200$ and getting any kind of quality out of a guitar. If you want a decent instrument (well-constructed, well-fretted, decent hardware) you have to pay for it.

Just make sure that the guitar you choose "fits" your hands well, cuz if it doesn't you won't play as well as you could on it.

samick 175 pretty good sound alvarez 245 to 400 better sound 400 will get you a solid top.....seagulls and yamahas are also nice, priced around 300 to 600 dollars...good luck, guitar shopping is one of my favorite things to do......make sure you put new strings on when you get it, the ones that will come with it will be old....

You can buy a yamaha for under $100 and quite good.

for a beginner, I would say 80- 100 is good enough.
