Position:Home>Performing Arts> I'm an indie musician and i want to know how much could i get paid for playi

Question:There's no "minimum wage" or standard amount. Its something you have to negotiate with each venue owner or manager, and a lot will depend on how well-known you are and how many fans/friends will come see you. Many places will pay you a percentage of the door; some may pay a guaranteed mininum + a percentage of the door; others may simply pay you a flat fee for "x" number of minutes of performance.

Almost nothing. You would be paid based on how many fans or friends came to see you.

The more money you make for the venue, the more they have to give you.... not saying that they will, of course.

I've played some places where we've gotten crap when we've managed to have a good crowd, and I've played places where we've done pretty well even when the crowd has been pretty sparse. A lot of it comes down to (in our case) the bar owner and how much they like our sound, how many people we've drawn, our time slot, how well people responded to us, etc.
