Position:Home>Performing Arts> How do i produce vibrato when i sing?

Question:A few nights ago, I watched a few videos on how to produce vibrato. I've also lots of questions here in yahoo answers but never one that answers my question.

Alot of the answers tell me to that to produce vibrato, i need to relax my throat, but how do i do that exactly? I know my throat isnt relaxed when i sing because i can feel some muscle tension.

Another thing, is it correct that i sing from my diaphragm and not my throat?

ps. if it helps, i'm 14 and my voice has finished changing and has stopped cracking.

For singers, vibrato is usually accomplished in the throat, and it usually takes maturity for a singer to develop a good one. For now, you should concentrate on proper placement and support.

And yes, breath support must come from the diaphragm. Singing from the throat causes strain.

I had a vocal teacher who suggested that if you rapidly roll your hand in a circular motion from the wrist while you sing then that would help your natural vibrato.

Give it a try - it may at least help you get the feel for it.
