Position:Home>Performing Arts> Bassoon Rental?

Question:Ok so I want to play the bassoon. I play the clarinet now but I can switch to the bassoon. The only problem is, my school only has one bassoon and its already being used in another band so my directer said I can only play if I can rent on myself and they will pay me back. Actually I lied thats not the only problem, the other problem is none of the local music shops rent bassoons. What to do? We are already studying for contest this spring to I have to act quickly or im going to have to wait until next year to play.

It is very rare to find anywhere that rents bassoons. Your best bet is to contact local colleges and universities. If they have a spare, they may be willing to rent to your school (but probably not to you directly).

Oh My God, what a coincidence! I play clarinet and bassoon too I swear! What I would recomend is going to the local collage to see if they would rent one to you or your parents. Or you could look on the internet to see if you could buy a good one cheap. If everything else fails and the other bassoonist is in a diffferent grade is just buy a different bocal and reeds and use that bassoon (with your bocal and reeds) when they are not.
Good Luck, Happy Bassooning and Clarineting
