I would recommend "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" from South Pacific. It has a fairly narrow range, can be sung with a depth of emotion, and has a very powerful message that often transcends a singer's ability. It can even be sung Accapella. I stuck a few links below to give you an idea of the power of this song. Hope it helps.

"Your eyes" sung by Roger to dying Mimi, in the musical RENT! It isn't too long, and can be sung with deep emotion.

some songs from hairspray are easy like "it takes two", "nicest kids in town", "it's hairspray". there's "Razzle Dazzle" from Chicago too.

Music of the night from phantom of the opera

If you don't really sing, I would recomend singing something that is meant for more for an actor, not a singer. Try these:

'Camelot' from Camelot- actually, any of King Arthur's songs would work. They are really meant for someone to speak-sing them, which is perfect for your needs
'Brush Up Your Shakespear' from Kiss Me Kate- hilarious song, again, meant for someone to speak-sing, very up-beat
'Dentist' from Little Shop of Horrors- also hilarious, very fun to act, it will bring the house down
'I Love To Travel' from The Frogs- sung by Nathan Lane (in the revival) and he is certainly not a singer, very clever song

Avoid:
-anything from Rent, Les Mis, Phantom, Fiddler on the Roof. They are too overdone. Your teachers/classmates won't want to hear them...again
- something for a charater much older/younger than yourself
- anything currently on Broadway

"Give My Regards To Broadway"
