Position:Home>Performing Arts> Does the camera really add 10lbs?

Question:No, it doesn't.
It can appear to add weight to women (I'm assuming you're female?) as the majority of women we see on screen are very thin and so anyone 'normal' does look larger than they actually are. We've been trained to see very thin women on screen as every-day looking- but it doesn't match to real life- 'real life' women do usually have more 'fat' on them hence the adds 10lbs rumor. So boo to the producers for insisting on really thin women!!

Actually this applies to guys as well if they're playing an under 30 romantic lead as they're usually expected to be \perfect' as well (alhtough men do have more freedom than women it seems).

no

It really does add weight. If you sit down it adds even more. It's good to know what elongates you, how to hold your head and neck, etc. For example, a v-neck makes the neck look longer, and if you keep your head up it makes the face look slimmer, but you don't want it up so high that the camera makes your nose look piggish. You almost have to practice in a mirror.

No. It takes pictures. Unless it's broken.

However, eating 10 lbs of butter adds 10 lbs. Also, it's pretty gross.

It depends on whether you're comfortable with yourself or not.
