i think guitar packs are great for beginners. your choice if you want a guitar pack or just the guitar itself.. XD

It depends on if you plan on playing it where you need it amplified. If you intend on performing with it then get the acoustic/electric. If not, save the extra bucks and just go with a plain acoustic. Yamahas are good, Fenders too.

Acoustic electric is a good choice. you didn't specify how much money you want to spend. You can Google Takamine. They are very good guitars and very affordable as well as Ovation. both can be purchased with or without a built in pickup.

I would say for your budget and if you are just starting out I would suggest and acoustic and honestly e-bay has some great guitars a lot of people want to get rid of the guitars they bought for there kids or themselves for new years resolutions and now they realize how much it wasn't going to work so they put it up on e-bay.

Good Luck!

If you plan on playing live gigs....
you'd be better to go with an acoustic/electric

If you only in your room practing...
Stick with an acoustic

You want a guitar that you know what you are going to use it for. For $150...

Now, for good acoustic guitar brands
1. Yamaha
2. Ibanez
3. Washburn
4. Epiphone
5. Dean

For good acoustic/electric guitar brands
1. Ibanez
2. Epiphone
3. Dean
4. Yamaha
5. Washburn

Good luck

Go for electro-acoustic. Ovation make the best electro-acoustics in the world, but Takamine and Tanglewood are also good. Don't buy off ebay, though. go somewhere where you can try before you buy.
Hope this helps.

I think that for the money, Yamaha makes a fair quality guitar. Just understand however, that when you get a guitar with ALLL that stuff with it, for 150 bucks, it isn't gonna sound or play like a 4500 dollar Taylor or Martin. I would go ahead and get this little guitar as it is cheap and generally, Yamaha is sound. But buy it with the knowledge that as you progress in your skills and talents, your understanding of what you like and don't like begins to manifest itself and also changes. I went through a lot of guitars trying to figure out what I wanted which is the answer you have for which is better; acoustic or acoustic/electric. Both of my guitars are A/E but I rarely plug in. instead, they usually come with a "cutaway" is why I like the A/E. I like Takamine myself. My nylon string guitar is a Takamine and my steel string is an Ibanez A/E. The Ibanez I feel is TRASH. Wouldn't buy another ever.
