Position:Home>Performing Arts> Don't feel bad. Most of the people have no talent. How do you take this advice

Question:it has some truth in it.I cant talk statistics but i guess it is true that hardwork compensates for lack of talent remember success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration(genius).but it is always advisable if u have the time and resources to find out the areas in which u have talent and purposefully cultivate them.always cash in on your core competencies dont waste time on something u have no aptitude for unless it is very essential for survival and living.

Hard work > Talent

It's not advice. It's a gentle way of telling someone that they suck.

With a grain of salt, and then you get a second opinion.

It depends upon which thing the criticism is based upon. If someone told me I have no talent after I attempted to sing, I would agree 100% because I am tone deaf. If it were something I consider myself at least somewhat versed in (graphic design, for example), I would ask on what areas I might be able to improve in and go from there. Of course depending upon who is giving me the criticism I may just ignore it and continue doing what I do.

It's not advice. It's a statement of the observer's definition of talent. You have talents like being able to spell and punctuate and capitalize when you enter your question.

Wow.
Thats kinda harsh.
Couldnt they at least sugarcoat it?

I would reject that opinion (it's not advice. Advice tells you HOW to do something, not WHAT to do!)

Everyone has a talent of some kind, including you. It sounds like the cynical comment of a jaded producer, director or 'talent-scout'.

So ... DON'T feel bad! It may just have been a long day for them. You have talent. Some people just don't know how to see it (or maybe you need to work on it a bit more).

There will be differences based on competency, performance, and personal equation.

What a sourpuss! It is not true at all. Many people have talent. Ignore rude people.

I completely disagree with this statement because all people have one or the other talent in them. The problem is that they just don't expose it.
For instance there might be a lot of other guys in India who can play better than Sachin or a lot of others who can dance well than Madhuri!!!
Its just that only some people go out boldly to show their hidden talents in them.
It would really be wrong to advise someone like this!!!

First of all you are wrong .I completely disagree with your statement. in this world everyone has talent ,and only thing is needed is the right opportunity and right person who can recognise the person having talent. As sky can never ever be the limit for anyone.

It is like, you are bad, still there are worst around us.
But you can also take it like, you deserve to get it, but the filthy is using it.

Who was the one giving you such an advice? Don't ever listen to any more advice.

Let mine be the last.
