Don't guess. Take him to the guitar store, and let him try every one he can find. The slightest variation in the neck, or the height of the strings will make a world of difference. You don't want him to be disappointed. You can always tell the salesperson to hold it for you so you can surprise your husband.

acoustic or electric... if electric you should go with a les paul eryone loves em exept there a lil heavy, if he likes vintage then the vintage sunburst 69' strat, acoustic i would go with an alverez, ibenez, or epiphone

The size doesn't matter. They all have similar scales. if he wants to use a PICK, get him a good "dreadnought" guitar. If he wants to FINGER PICK, maybe a "parlor" or "triple O" style would be better or perhaps he's into "classical music" then maybe he might prefer a nylon stringed "classical" style guitar. If you are not quite sure . . get the dreadnought style because he can also finger pick on that OR straight pick Hope I shed some light for you.

Doesn't really matter. Buy the regular size which is about 38" . It won't matter ih he is short or tall since he is playing with his hands and not his legs.
