yes. set the benchmark.tell the people this is what you have to beat to go ahead of me.and being first means you have less nerves playing tricks on your mind

It is validation that your practice routine is successful, your teachers and directors are giving your the right information and prioritizing the right techniques for you to master, and that your ability to decipher the notation met with the approval of the judges. Now that you know this, it should give you the confidence to go on and master the next highest level. Congratulations and never forget to give a hand up to those underneath you. They are the ones who are going to make you sound good at the next concert!
