Actually my daughter and I are taking piano lessons together, it may be too early to call us musicians, but we are trying

Actually, I just play for hours and if I hear something I like then I add stuff to it!! I like to play the Acoustic Guitar! I don't play that much anymore but sometimes I'll look on the internet for songs and change the notes or add my stuff in! ITS A BLAST!!

HAVE FUN!!

Lessons for the theory and basics, then I took what I knew and did what I want. The knowledge has only helped me.

Taught myself to play guitar out of books (this was way back when I was a teenager, in the dark ages long before the Internet or instructional DVDs or even videos, LOL)

Took about 6 months worth of mandolin lessons from a teacher, about 20 years ago.

Taught myself to play banjo out of tab books starting about 18 years ago , then eventually set aside the books and now play almost entirely by ear.

Taught myself to play old-time and bluegrass fiddle by ear starting about 16 years ago.

I still play fiddle, banjo and guitar regularly.

Just keep at it until you get it, Don't get discouraged try to find groups that just jam and join in you can learn more that way.

I took lessons for the piano and clarinet, but my guitar skills were self-taught.

If you can play the paino, you can pick up pretty much any instrument with relative ease. The guitar was not so easy as it uses E tuning instead of C.

Guitar i took lessons when i was 7... then i stopped and continued on my own and still play today... other instruments i have teachers for.
