Position:Home>Performing Arts> Should I play the Clarinet? If I join next year?

Question:I have band as a regular encore class and we are trying out 4 instruments. So we have this sheet to tell us how we did according to our teacher. The first one we tried was the flute. He completely marked it out because I couldn't make a sound come out from it at all. The sacond on we tried was the Clarinet. I was a whole lot more comfortable with it than the Flute. I played it very well, and it was easy. But I still had 2 more. The next one was the Trumpet. I knew I wouldn't be good at it and I wasn't. I couldn't "buzz" and that was what you have to do to play it. The fourth one is the Trombone. I am playing it tomorrow but Ii don't think I will do good. I may do a little better since the mouthpeice is bigger, but idk. I really liked the Clarinet and since thereis a wide range of pitch, you can never have too many. I wanted to play precussion but he said we can't start out with that. I want to join band next year, if I get an invitation. The invitation will be given to me by friday.

totally i started this year its really fun you like it i hope you get invited but you do have to be patient or you ll get no were with the clarinet its an awesome instrument the only down side is that it gets harder as you progress to higher notes but you ll make it if you have motivation just stay cool in your try outs you can always take private lessons if you don't no anything so your ready for try outs good luck

YES! I started on clarinet, moved to all saxes, double reeds and still play. Later, I picked up the flute and brass instruments. Clarinet is an embouchure builder and you will never regret it!

Yes!
I play the flute and I love band!!!

I was going to play the clarinet and I kind of liked it. The only problem was that it takes up alot of air. To play you would probably have to practice breathing exercises, and you should be determind to go on with it or it's just a waste of money to rent one. So, if you do really want to, you would have to put time into it, so in other words, YES!!! It should be fun.

If you like the clarinet then stick with it! You can get some great scholarships later on for college if you get really good at it. Plus if you go into marching band, it's a very light instrument.

Yes its so much run,.
