Question Home

Position:Home>Performing Arts> Have you ever seen two persons play one guitar at the same time, chording&picking

Question:I've done it. The person holding the guitar normally plays the low bass runs and partial chords while the second person plays an octave higher on the fretboard applicable leads and riffs.

It is an awkward stance for the second person because positioning is tight.

  • Back in the 50's two crew members often played country type songs that way, it was a struggle to reach and play the chords, but sounded good.

On one of the G3 DVDs Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan and the other band members do exactly this but I think they used something like three guitars at once.
