Position:Home>Performing Arts> If I have a wonerful voice, then should I start to sing more to express myself?

Question:My ex-roommate in college was a Music Major. He sang Bass in quartets and choirs - things like that. Usta drive me nuts practicing Beethoven's Ode To Joy in German.

He always said that he had to learn how to sing, alone and with others before trying to develop any style of his own. He could pick up a sheet of music and sing those black jelly beans in key.

That's pretty much true of any art. You must learn the fundamentals. Can you read music? Play an instrument?

There's an old joke about a visitor to NYC who is trying to find Carnegie Hall. He sees a guy standing on a corner holding a cello case, so he asks him, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" The guy with the cello case answers, "Practice, man, practice!"

I said it was an old joke, not necessarily a good one. But, the point is that it's what you learn after you know it all that really counts.

Music is such great therapy, I love it. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but, when I hear a song that I like, I will sing until the cows come home. GO FOR IT!!!!!
