Position:Home>Performing Arts> I have three choices for an intrument a tumpet, flute,or violin, which one? I nee

Question:I've actually played a number of those instruments you mentioned and I'd have to tell you to go with the violin. "Why", you ask? Well, learning the violin for one thing is incredibly fun and its a very versatile instrument. Also, the good thing about learning violin is that once you understand the fundamentals of the instrument, you'll then have an easy time learning the fundamentals of several other instruments including guitar, bass, cello and even the piano to a certain extent.

Violin.
It makes ppl look cool and sophisticated.
and it kicks butt!!
lol

I personally would pick the violin. Even though string instruments are the toughest to learn, it sure does soothe and relax the soul when you hear one played...

It depends on your lifestyle, the people you hang around with and might conceivably play with, the amount of self discipline you have, and which instrument you can actually get passionate about. If you enjoy things like marching band football games, and parades, then the trumpet or flute might please you. If you can buzz your lips so accurately that you can hear the notes, then your embrochure would probably be more suited to the Trumpet. If you have great breath control and think it's great fun to blow across the tops of soda bottles to hear the sound, you may prefer the flute.

If however, you are passionate about the sound of bowed strings, have a lot of self discipline and really want a challenge, then the violin would be your best choice. I would really recommend that you to a music store or your school band hall and orchestra room and ask to try out each instrument. You may also have friends who already play these instruments and they may allow you to give it a try.

Hope this helps.

All three are very popular choices, so if you intend to become a professional or even just to join a school or local band or orchestra, you will be facing competition with all three.

Personally, given only those choices, I would choose flute, as it's the least expensive and probably the easiest to learn.

pick the violin. it is such a beautiful instrument.
i play the viola, but i occasionaly pick up a violin.i love it.

I play the violin, and I totally love it. If you play the violin, you can experiment with all different styles, from celtic to jazz to classical to bluegrass. You could play in an orchestra, jam with fiddlers, or even join a band. The violin offers lots of variety in the ways you can play: you can use the bow, you can pluck the strings, you can play two notes at once, plus other special effects, most of which aren't possible on a flute or trumpet.

All that having been said, it's completely up to you which instrument you choose. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses, and each can be very satisfying with lots of hard work and effort. I would encourage you to talk to people who play these instruments and have them demonstrate for you what they sound like.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

I had to make the same choice and I chose Trumpet and haven't regretted it for one day in my 8 years of playing yet. Trumpet is the most fun and when you get good and start to unerstand the instrument, you can virtually play anything from jazz to classical to hard rock.

Too many violin answers! Pick the one that best suite's your personality:

Violin has a very slow learning curve in the beginning. It requires a lot of discipline early in practice to be able to play a full scale. Violinists give an aura of intelligence because people know that it took a lot of time and practice to be able to play more than two notes.

The flute requires A LOT of lung power! The learning curve on this instrument isn't really all that hard. In fact, it might look intimidating because of the number of keys, but playing one note to the next is easier as because of that fact. There are also many different ways to play a note which makes the instrument ideal to play fast music that always adds fun to the piece. This instrument is easier to learn and fun to play.

The trumpet is an instrument of royalty. If you like being heard and love to carry the melody of the tune, then this instrument is definitely for you. Don't be fooled by the three valves! Just because there are three, it takes a lot of lung power and muscle tone to play higher notes. In fact, the horn might make you really dizzy for the first couple of times you play. Still, it is the easiest to pick up and hardest to master.

Also there are sometimes gender roles. The brass is considered a masculine instrument, while the flute feminine. The violin is mixed. But do not be fooled! I have seen and heard many great players of both instruments with all genders.

Giving you my opinion would be biased. I love the trumpet too much, but I cannot let my bias alter someone's decision. The instrument really does become an extension of your personality. One thing is for sure though, you cannot just pick it one day and quit it. All instruments require hard discipline to become better and better. The rewards are great if you are willing to put in the effort.

Play from the heart.
