Question:on the violin?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: on the violin?

Here is an excellent resource to peruse. Check out Violin Master Class and you can actually see spicatto being performed. Hope this helps.

That's "staccato," and it means very short and separated. On the violin, you may mean "pizzicato," which is to pluck the string.

Edit: Sorry birget and Blake - I didn't understand the question. Blake - thanks for the correct answer.

spiccato is when your bow is "bouncing" on the string as your bow is going across the string, usually one bounce per stroke

no no spiccato is right you have to keep your wrist light and bounce your bow up and down while making your notes crisp and short... it may sound weird but when you do it w/ more people in a full orchestra it sounds very good :D hope it helps
