Guitar... Which to get?

Question:I can either get an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top, or a Fender Stratocaster. I used to have a Fender Starcaster (the 200 dollar one from Costco with an Amp Pack), and didn't like it that much. I was pretty good at it, but the guitar rattled at every string- alot. I went to guitar center, and tried out an Epiphone Les Paul Studio, which is supposedly has the same hardware as the Plain Top, but the plain top has better asthetics and wood quality. I really liked the Les Paul, but didn't have much time to play it. I've never used Standard Strat, but I dont know if it good or not.

I think you need to go back and play both guitars that you are interested in some more. Really take your time and check them out. Get the one that feels and sounds the best and that you can afford. While you are at it try checking out some other guitars. You may find one that feels and sounds better.

If you like blues and a good punchy sound, get the Gibson i own boat and the Gibson ahs that very fat sound with a lot of presence.

Hmm... This is actually a pretty common debate. I prefer Les Pauls, but the guitars are just so different. The pickups in the Epiphones really aren't that great, however you can upgrade them. I'd recommend trying them, but I personally would go with the Epiphone.
