In short two ? = ? They are both quavers When you add two ? together they join together to get ?. But two quavers equal one beat so ? is equal to half a beat and ? is equal to 1 whole beat. The first is a pair of eighth notes and the second is a single eighth note. If you have two of the second ones, it's the exact same rhythm as the first pair, just notated separately. the first is a combination of the second. It is called an eighth note which has 1/2 count so that makes the first 1 count. =D . Hope this helps The first symbol is two eighth nots the second is one eighth note. |
