Position:Home>Performing Arts> My way to fame?

Question:It is my dream to be famous eventually in life. I'm 16 now and I figured since I am almost done with high school I better start thinking about the future now. A life of college, marriage, then a family just isn't my cup of tea. I'm thinking a life of fame and then eventually settle down.
I am very talented with piano and music. I'm learning guitar. I'm good with acting but have never taken a drama class or anything. I'm a good artist but I've never taken an art class. I've been told I have model potential.
How can I work my way to get to fame? My parents will support me in it. When I mean fame I mean something big. But I know it won't start out that way it is something you work at. So my question how can I get started? Help?

Try out for next season of America's Next Top Model or other reality shows. If you have star potential, you'll make it. My advice to you--go to college anyway. The best actors, etc out there went to college, and it will only help.
You gotta decide waht you love to do, and then hone your skills. Dont just try to make it a little in art, a little in music, a little in acting, etc. Go for ONE dream, so you can focus all your energy into it. You'll have more success that way.

Send in some tapes to talent agencies and go from there.

Perhaps you could become the world's first teenage, acting, modeling, artist bank robber.

Although being an actor is extremely rewarding, finding work can be a challenge. The profession requires great commitment and fortitude.

Step One Decide whether you want to be a professional actor (addressed here) or an amateur. If you want to be a professional, read on.

Step Two Move to a major city. Eventually, New York or Los Angeles will be your destination, but as you build your résumé of experience you can work in other major metropolitan areas that have good theater or film communities.

Step Three Enroll in acting class. Good actors study their entire lives. To choose a good class, ask trusted, successful professionals for references.

Step Four Get a headshot (see "How to Get a Headshot," under Related eHows).

Step Five Compose a résumé of all the work you have done so far. As your body of work grows, drop the less professional work (such as school plays) from your résumé.

Step Six Send your headshot and résumé with a brief cover letter to all the casting directors and agents in your area. Follow up with postcards every four to six months, updating them on your current acting projects.

Step Seven Read the trade papers regularly: "Backstage," "Dramalogue," "The Ross Reports" and "Variety," as well as online publications such as newenglandfilm.com, as appropriate. Know what is being cast where, and send headshots and notes directly to directors and producers whenever possible, requesting auditions.

Step Eight Always accept invitations to industry events and parties, and meet industry professionals whenever possible. Who you know is extremely important.

Step Nine Persevere.

Tips & Warnings

Acting is a tough business; make sure your personality is suited for the ups and downs. If not, amateur theater is also a good way to practice your craft.
Ignore negative clichés about actors and the entertainment business.

Be skeptical of shady services offered to actors; there are many scams that prey on the dreams of actors.

Try taking an art and or drama class to see if you like it or no. Most schools allow students to model their own individual fashion. You can challenge yourself, if your school supplies this opportunity, if it doesn't their are modeling colleges out there and there are people who search for models. Who travel from state to state. Last I've heard was a modeling addition at the Embassy Suites in Cary, North Carolina, but that was two weeks ago.
Take your time don't rush into anything take your time. You might not like being a model and be stuck in a contract.
-wish you the best

I find it interesting that your main goal is to be famous. Famous does not usually equal happy, rich or even well liked. Read Eric Clapton's biography and you will understand what I mean.
