Question:

A weak voice?

I haven't used my voice for singing in about a year, and have just started back up. I noticed now that when I sing my voice gets tired very quickly. How should I warm it up before I sing? Also, can my voice get stronger over time now that I am using it more often?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Just do your usual warm-ups. Over time, your voice will get stronger again. Remember, there are tiny muscles that enable you to sing. These muscles, if not used, get weak. If you have gotten yourself in shape to run 2 miles every day, then quit for a year, you cannot expect yourself to run 2 miles again the first day you are back at it.

Your range will most likely be smaller than it was, but this will come back with time, too.

So, do your usual warm-ups, don't push your voice, and don't sing too long. If you push it too much, you will only be setting yourself back. You may have to start with 10 minutes a day the first week, 15 minutes a day the next week, etc. But it will come back. Be patient.
