Can a bass guitar player be lead vocals also?

Can a bass guitar player be lead vocals also?

i wanted to know if there was any conflict between the two, because typically you see a guitarist being lead vocals. is there anything wrong if i'm a bass player and want to be lead vocalist of my band also?
