I don't know much about suessical the musical. Does anyone know what the characters are and what it's about?

I'm in middle school and I go to a performing arts center. They are doing the show Suessical the Musical, but I don't know anything about it. Someone said I'd be good in the role of Jojo. Who's he?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I did this play in the fall, I was Mrs. Mayor. Jojo is one of the leads-- there are many in the play.

Cat In The Hat- Has many songs, interacts with the audience, dances, has to be a fun, loud, outgoing person. Sort of the host.

Jojo- A lead. When my school did this we got two sixth graders to play the part(it was double cast). He needs to be small, and have a high and loud voice, and needs to be a good singer and actor. He saves Whoville when it is nearly boiled in the courtroom.

Horton- Another lead. He hears the Whos on Whoville, which is on a small speck of dust but noone notices. Everyone thinks he is crazy, and they try to arrest him and boil the speck of dust Whoville is on. When he is nest sitting someone's egg, he, the egg, nest and tree get stolen and forced to join the circus.

Gertrude McFuzz- Has a one feather tail, goes to Doctor Drake to make it bigger and he gives her pills off a pillsbury bush. She takes too many and her tail gets so heavy she can't fly to save Horton, who she is in love with. She saves the day, finds the speck of dust and saves Horton, after plucking her tail.

Mayzie La Bird- Has a large, beautiful tail. She convinces Gertrude she needs a bigger tail for Horton to notice her. She asks Horton to egg sit for her, and she goes on vacation for a long time, forgetting about the egg. That is why Horton gets captured by the circus.

Sour Kangaroo- Is determined to get Horton arrested, she has a big Aretha Franklin voice, and even sings a line: R-E-S-P-E-C-K! Oh, please, take that speck away! And makes a citizens arrest and gets Horton sent to court.

General Ghenghis Khan Schmitz- The general of the army Jojo's parents send him to. They are going to destroy the butterside downers in a war he is crazy about, and everyone on Whoville is convinced is necessary.

The Bird Girls- Mayzie's posse. haha. I said posse. ...yeah...

The Wickersham brothers- Monkeys who torment and bully poor Horton for being crazy.

Mr. Mayor- The Mayor of Whoville. Sends his son Jojo to the army. He also hosts the annual Christmas party the Grinch attends. He talks to Horton, and tells Horton Whoville needs help.

The Mayors Wife- My part! She sends her son to the army, and sings a song about How to Raise a Child. She gets a line where she is drunk. Yep.

The Grinch- Attends the annual Christmas party and tells the story about how his heart grew three sizes, and he didn't returned Christmas.

Vlad Vladikoff- Steals the clover the speck of dust Whoville is on, and drops it into a field of thousands of clovers, leaving Gertrude the task of finding the right one. Everyone in the cast made ten tissue paper clovers, and they were given to the audience, the audience had a great time with them.

Yertle the Turtle- The judge at the Case of the People vs Horton the Elephant. Rules that Horton will be sent to the asylum for the criminally insane, and the speck of dust will be boiled. Jojo invents a new word(YOP!!!) and yells it really loud. Everyone in the courtroom hears and Whoville is saved.

Young Kangaroo- Is The Sour Kangaroos daughter.

Elephant Bird- What hatches from the egg Horton sits on.

The play went really well. We had planned four performances, but they all sold out, so we added a fifth. The fifth sold out too, even though it had been announced only two days before! We got calls from elementary school teachers to tour the play at schools, but we declined. Another thing we did was every person wrote a description in rhyme for their character and they were hung on the enterance wall. Even though it was my high school, we got 60 elementary schoolers to play the Whos of Whoville (SIXTY hyper kids backstage-- but it was planned so well it wasn't a problem) 6 Middle schoolers to play Whos/Cadets/Fish/Hunters/Circu... people. Then there were 20 high schoolers playing the major parts. There were people who brought in Unicycles and batons and and other things for the circus. the Cat in the Hat, a guy in our production also was double cast, so the offnight Cat was the nurse. Seeing the six foot five guy wearing a white nurse dress, hairy legs, and red high heels made everyone laugh so hard. It was probably the most fun play I have ever done. It was insanely fun. People laughed and even cried! Kids were rooted in their seats and wanted their pictures taken with their favorite character. Wow, this was long! Heh heh.
