Question:

Regional tryouts for choir and need tips?????

On Saturday I am going to a nearby town to do a school choir regional tryouts... We have to sing a song(solo) and a block and contrunptal(or whatever) and a single line sightreading. I just want some tips on how to not be so nervous and make my singing better. If you have anything else worth telling please tell.......Thankyou.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, you say to 'make your voice sound better', but if your voice isn't up to scratch at this point, there's not much you can do to change it by Saturday.

Practice, practice, practice!! That is the best advice I can offer. That way, you will feel confident in your voice and with the piece you are performing. Make sure to warm up each day before singing, and warm up before going. Get plenty of sleep the day before your audition, and do not drink or eat anything dairy before your audition!

Make sure you're breathing from your diaphram, not from your chest. Try not to clear your throat excessively often, as that can hurt your vocal chords (it's hard not to do, I'll admit!).

Relax, have fun, and good luck!
