When do i purchase a new cello?

i have been playing for 4 years, i can play up into thum position and am learning to read tennor and treble cleff. i have played with vibrato science my first year. my first cello was really cheap to see if i wanted to continue with it. then i got a new one for like 1,200. to me i think it is years down the road before i should get a new one. what is advrage expierence before getting one thats like 4,000. i now this girl in orch, she has played for like 11 or 12 years, and she only got a new one like a year ago. so my guess is i will be like 25 years old, im 17 now. whats yr oppinon?


Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If your current cello is still playing well and meeting your needs at the high school level, then I see no need to purchase another one. My friend took his cello with him to college, the one he had used in HS. Once you are ready to move up to the next level or performance, perhaps auditioning for a symphony or a select college group, you may find that your current cello is holding you back. That's when you need a new one.

Or maybe, you never do. Maybe yours is the absolute best cello for you, forever.
