Question:

Phantom of the opera question?

when they say that raul has to keep his hand at the level of his eye, what does that mean?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The book explains this much better. Erik, the phantom, spent some time in Persia, where he became skilled with the Punjab lasso, which is what he uses to kill people. He used to kill people in this method to amuse the Sultana of Persia. Anyway, in the book, The Persian (who isn't in the musical but has a huge part in the book) explains to Raoul that if they keep their hands at the level of their eyes, then the lasso will not be able to go around their necks, for if they are lassoed, then Erik will easily be able to break their necks. The musical doesn't go over this, so the only way to know about it is to be knowledgeable in the book.
