Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Depending on the venue, there are open mic nights, and amateur nights where you would be able to sing.

You could also create a group or get back-up players/singers and perform or go in as a solo act (if you can play guitar or keyboards, etc...)

School/church choirs are another place to showcase your talents and make contacts that may know of events coming up where you'd be able to sing.
