1) it was NOT about slavery (or not the degree people think)

2) it was about secession and if states should be able to leave the union!. The north thought all the states should stay together because if another country came they could all defend together!.!.!. the south thought the states should be able to make up their own rules and leave the union if they wanted to!.

4) did you know the first iron clad vessels were used!? The merrimack and the monitor up until then they were all wooden ships!.

The facts about the war have been recorded in the 'War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies!.' Many refer to them simple as the Official Records (OR)!. I believe there are 127 volumes, which also include the records of the Navies too!.

For fine reading there is also 'Campaigns of the Civil War,' a thirteen volume set from the Union side, as well as 'Battles & Leaders of the Civil War' ( a four volume set)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
