To keep them from being restored to the throne!. As long as there were Romanov's with a claim to the throne alive -- there was a danger to the revolutionaries!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Basically to erase any chance of Russia returning to a monarchy!. The Russians were fed up with starving and having nothing while Nick and his family lived in luxury!. The Communists weren't much better as it turned out but at least Lenin and his crowd did improve things for the average worker or proletariat!. The line-ups for three-day old bread were a little shorter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
