Question: Did lincoln let the South rejoin the Union without ending slavery!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
No, to become part of the Union again, they had to accept the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments!. And that was under Johnson not Lincoln, because he got assassinated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lincoln was murdered just five days after Lee surrendered!. He didn't have much to do with Reconstruction!. It was Andrew Johnson who oversaw the beginning of Reconstruction until he was impeached!. Then Radical Republicans began 12 years of torture of the South until the Deal of 1876 which ended Reconstruction, and began the Reign of Terror of the KKK!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He was assinated and I believe it was first Johnson that considered taking them back!. It wasn't until Polk that it was from sea to shining sea!. He admitted the Southern States and over took some British!. Lincoln didn't have a chance to let them rejoin!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
