Calvin Coolidge was President until his term expired on March 4th!. After that, Herbert Hoover was sworn in as President, and his term lasted until 1933!.

However, Hoover **was** President for the majority of the year!. also, the most-remembered historical event from 1929 was the stock market crash, which happened in October!. Hoover was President when that happened, so his name is far more associated with 1929 (in terms of who was President that year) than Coolidge's is!.
